Current Duties/Roles with TRAIN PD at TCALL

  • Acts as liaison between TRAIN PD @ TCALL, Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation staff, and the Adult Education and Literacy systems, connecting TRAIN PD to expertise in meeting the special learning needs of adult learners.
  • Recommends, develops, and writes policy documents and training modules to ensure TCALL is following University, state, and federal accessibility policies for electronic information resources (EIR); remediates digital materials for accessibility and provides training to TCALL staff on digital accessibility best practices; coordinates appropriate accommodations for participants who attend both virtual and in-person training events.
  • Provides professional development for evidence based Adult Education and Literacy instruction including designing and delivering training for adult learners with disabilities.
  • Serves as team leader for the Adult Education and Literacy Instruction Professional Development Institute including the roll-out of several versions of the Texas (AEL) Content Standards.
  • For assigned AEL programs, provides PD Consultation, Site Visits and Concentrated Support; develops PD recommendations for the programs PD Continuous Improvement Plan development and data-driven PD planning; processes training requests from AEL programs including contract trainer negotiations; acts as a point of contact for professional development expertise.
  • Leads the planning and hosting of TCALL's Tech and Tell Webinar series.
  • Participates in ongoing Professional Development initiatives to keep abreast of developments and trends in the field; Supports other objectives of the Professional Development Center, including research activities as approved by funder.
