| Additional Information: | Literacy First, Conroe offers a preschool program where children of attending parents receive instruction in the same language skills.--Class Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM) Academic Year: Begins the second week of September and ends the week before Memorial Day. Breaks: We observe a winter break from Thanksgiving through New Year’s --Materials & Fees: Students purchase Oxford Press monolingual dictionaries and workbooks for $20–$25. Childcare is available for $35 per semester. These are the only annual costs for students. --Additional Programs: We offer American Citizenship classes for students who have completed at least Level 2 English. The only cost is the workbook, typically $7–$10. --Support Services: Beyond classroom instruction, we assist students with practical life skills, including: Navigating utility services, Scheduling doctor visits, Completing housing applications. We also collaborate with Texas Workforce Commission trainers and program directors to inform students about available resources and encourage them to take advantage of these services.--Contact Information: Connie Anthony serves as the primary English-speaking contact. Most inquiries are successfully handled via text using Google Translate. A referral can be made to a Spanish-speaking volunteer for further assistance if needed. |
