Libraries & Literacy

A partnership between the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and Texas Workforce Commission

This one-day in-person workshop provides training in the following:

1) Use of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's free digital literacy toolkit. You will go home with a free copy of the toolkit.
2) Access and use of the TRAIN PD CENTER @ TCALL, the statewide Professional Development and Resource Center for Texas Adult Education and Literacy (AEL). This resource is free to librarians and adult literacy providers
3) Overview of Learning Express Library, an online resource available through most academic and public libraries
4) Best practices in partnership development and an opportunity to meet potential partners

It's FREE for all Texas library staff and adult literacy providers.


CE Credit: 6 TSLAC CE hours

Registration: 9:00 - 9:30am
Orientation: 9:30 - 10:00am
Digital Literacy Training: 10:00am - noon
Lunch on your own:12:00pm - 1:30pm
Literacy Resources Overview: 1:30 - 3:00pm
Best Practices in Partnership Development: 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Audience: All are welcome, though these workshops are designed for staff from public and academic libraries and from adult literacy providers.

Cost: FREE!

Lunch is on your own; feel free to bring snacks and drinks. Some libraries may provide light refreshments or might have vending machines, but this is not guaranteed.
